The invited competition brief asked for a series of bespoke dwellings within the sensitive woodland setting.

The plots are arranged to address the organic centre of the site, around which all of the properties pivot. This use of the communal green space gives each property a stately but secluded feel. The trees in the centre of the site create a natural focus with the dwellings loosely arranged around it.

Any non-origianal additions and extensions are removed from the original Lodge building. Internally the house is subdivided, and a contemporary yet complementary extension added to the rear, in order to create three separate dwellings.

All three new build houses consist of a central two storey block with a pitched roof and a primary gable elevation visible on the approach to each dwelling. Each also features a flat roofed secondary block which mirrors the architectural language of the extension to Woodthorpe Lodge.
